Portfolio > My Mother's Cape

My Mother's wool nurse's cape from the 1950's. She hoped to hand it down to one of her daughters or granddaughters that followed in her professional footsteps. Unfortunatley no one became a nurse and so she handed it down to me to do with as I pleased. As a staunch catholic she was not a fan of my Eve/Lilith book but when she saw it embroidered on the red lining she did love the end product.
I loved embroidering on this piece. I love the story of Eve and Lilith being carried secretly beneath a woman's cape, beneath her skin. This is the time to throw open our capes cut into our skin and let the blood red story bleed out into the world!
